NWD math tutor

A prototype. Each line is one thing a person can do here today; the last section is what comes next.

A student

• I am factoring x² + bx + c for the first time.Build the rectangle, move the splits, and read the two numbers off it. Nine steps, graded only when you press Check.
• I need to know what a square root is before I complete a square.Drag the edge of a square until the area reads the number you were given, then slide the foot of a ladder.
• I want to watch school math in order, one standard at a time.Every Common Core math standard from counting to high school, in the order each builds on the last. The 29 Algebra I standards play as animations; the rest show the plan for theirs.
• I am starting linear algebra.Drag two arrows to move the whole plane, read the matrix off where they land, and send points through it.
• I am drawing constructions with a rule and a compass.Three lessons: cos 15 degrees, Euclid III.20 and I.32, and a blank sheet with the instruments.

A teacher

• I want to see one student's prerequisites and pick what he does next.Sign in as Ms. Whitfield, open Algebra I Period 3, open Marcus, and accept the recommended lesson. Demo accounts, seeded data, no real roster.
• I want to see exactly what a student sees, and nothing they should not.Three items with no standards, no prerequisite list and no answer key in the page.
• I want to try the instruments before I assign a construction.The blank sheet: straightedge, compass, and four of Euclid's constructions to aim at.

A content creator

• I want to check that an item renders and see the metadata a student never sees.The same items as the student view, with standards and prerequisites shown.

Reviewing

• I want to look over the demo material with someone.One card per demo, its state, the deck, and every link needed to run it.
• I want to see every screen at once and how a person gets between them.Four personas, every screen we have and several we do not, and the named paths through them.

Not on this site yet

• A teacher writes an item in a form and tags it with a standard.Prototype exists (Flow A, content-platform); not deployed here.
• A teacher drops a Word file and gets candidate items back to correct.Demo exists (docx to items, content-platform); not deployed here.
• A student's whole session is saved, and a teacher scrubs back through it.The player records it today; nothing stores it yet.
